[Point of Sale Shortcut on Desktop]

About Topic

The Point of Sale mode allows those businesses that function around a retail / cash-based environment to invoice their customers in a quicker manner than the traditional invoicing method used by non-retail businesses.  Use of this mode allows ManageMore to function like a cash register, but with the powerful features of the software only a few clicks away for when they are needed.  This section deals with the common screen to both POS layout types.

Stand Alone Point of Sale Application

The point of sale feature stands alone, without having to open ManageMore.  To do this, make a shortcut on your desktop and point it to the MMPOS.EXE file located in your program path.  (This will be done automatically on the station upon which the software is first installed.) To find your program path, right-click on your program icon, then click on Properties.  Then click on the Find Target button.  This will open the folder that contains the MMPOS.EXE file.  For your convenience, a shortcut to this file is created on your desktop when you first install ManageMore.

If you are using a multi-company license of ManageMore, and wish to implement the stand alone point of sale for those companies, simply add a space, C=, then the company ID number that you see on the Open Company window.

exampleFor example, if your program path (or program folder) is M:\MMWIN, then you would set a shortcut on your Desktop whose target is "M:\MMWIN\MMPOS.EXE".  Also, if there were two companies on this version of the software and the second company had company ID 2, then you could also set up the point of sale program to work with that second company by creating a shortcut whose target is "M:\MMWIN\MMPOS.EXE C=2".  If you are required to use quotes in the target, make sure it is after the exe, and the C= is outside of the quotes.

Either method (starting the Point of Sale or the ManageMore software) works the same way, and both affect your current data files.  However, implementing the point of sale reduces the time it will take to set up data within the software, as well as allowing users quick access to POS-related functions only.
